Dear Students and Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year and Meyokumin Elementary School. We are eager to have you as a part of our school community, and we look forward to the upcoming school year. As a staff we are quite proud of our students, their achievements and the support we receive from our parent community. We believe this year will be a great time to set high goals and plan for some exciting learning opportunities.
Our school is committed to providing our students with an excellent educational program within a safe and caring learning environment, seeing to it that students acquire ideas and skills that will enrich their lives and enhance their ability to contribute to the community in a meaningful educational experience, appropriate to each student, regardless of ability.
It is a special privilege to work with our students and families during these important developmental years. During these years our students will go through many changes physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. We hope that these changes are positive, interesting, and unforgettable. We encourage our students to take full advantage of the variety of opportunities provided both in and out of the classroom, to try new experiences and discover new skills and talents.
Parents/guardians are essential to student success, and we rely on parents/guardians to be actively involved in their children’s education and co-curricular activities. We invite frequent visits and ongoing communication between teachers and parents/guardians. Parents are encouraged to attend curriculum conferences, parent-teacher meetings, and special celebrations throughout the school year. Your presence and support is crucial to your child’s positive development.
So, welcome to the new school year! We know that you are going to make this year special for yourselves and for everyone at Meyokumin Elementary School. We hope that you have an outstanding year.

Mr. D. Beharry
